Apply now

Pendulum is a venture-backed, seed-stage startup that empowers companies and governments to detect, deter, and counteract the impacts of harmful online narratives with machine learning enabled tools. We are currently seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join our team of talented ML experts, data scientists, and engineers focused on tackling this important societal problem. As part of this team, you will work as a tech leader and subject matter expert responsible for developing solutions to classify harmful content across a unique dataset currently containing over 100M audio and video transcripts.

We firmly believe that the best teams put diversity and inclusion first when hiring and operating. At Pendulum this is paramount. Our mission of fighting against the impacts of harmful narratives and the underlying analysis narratives, claims, and communities in our society demands diversity of thought at all levels within our team. As such, prioritizing diversity and inclusion are core to first principles and requirements for working at Pendulum.

Your Responsibilities

  • Using machine learning, NLP, NLU, and Computational Linguistic techniques, including recent advances in few-shot learning, to develop models for classifying and discovering harmful narratives in audio and video transcript data
  • Collaborating with other engineers to design and code highly scalable machine learning applications that process large volumes of data
  • Researching and implementing novel new machine learning, and NLP algorithms
  • Contributing to new research, data science, and engineering processes and systems that will allow the team and company to scale in the future
